Today, rapid developments in digital image creation and communication technologies have taken the field of Cartoon and Animation beyond the boundaries of cinema art, transforming it into a wide range of uses from visual communication to advertising, from game design to new media applications. Animation is at the center of contemporary production practices as a multi-layered narrative language where different disciplines such as cinema, visual and auditory arts, design and technology come together.
As the Department of Cartoon and Animation, our goal is to provide our students with an educational environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with practice, supports creative thinking with technical equipment and provides them with competencies to produce on a national and international scale. Throughout the education process, our students learn by experiencing all stages of the animation production process through workshop-based courses, and acquiring extensive competence in 2D and 3D animation, character design, editing, sound, effects and post-production.
The Cartoon and Animation Graduation Project, which is carried out in the last year, allows our students to integrate the knowledge and skills they have acquired during the four-year theoretical and practical education process with an original project. In this process, students learn not only to produce an animated film, but also to present, share and position the content they produce at a professional level. Thanks to the studio facilities within the department, our students gain production experience that can take part in qualified national and international projects.
The compulsory and voluntary internship practices within the scope of the program support our students to gain sectoral experience, develop their professional networks, and make a stronger start to their business life after graduation. In addition, through Erasmus+ and other exchange programs, our students have the opportunity to study abroad, get to know different academic and cultural environments, and gain an international perspective.
Students who graduate from our department find the opportunity to work in different studios and positions such as; animation studios, advertising agencies, post-production and television studios, multimedia and video production companies and, in the game industry in different positions such as Illustrator, Cartoon Designer, Animation Artist, Video/Editing Operator, Producer, Special Effects Operator, 2D-3D Modeling Specialist, Game Designer, Character Designer, Animation Film Critic and Educator.
If you want to meet the new possibilities offered by art and technology, develop these opportunities through a creative and disciplined education process, and express your imagination with your own lines in two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) worlds, the Department of Cartoon and Animation is waiting for you.
